Each planet has a speci c number of actual votes, based on the various dignities it represents across the
Boards of Directors. But within a given Board of Directors, a planet may in uence additional votes if it rules one of the other board members.
For example, e Board of Directors for Sondheim’s Sun in Aries consists of Mars in Pisces with
a total of 6 votes for Rulership and
Face; e Sun in Aries with 4 votes for Exaltation; and Jupiter in Gemini with 5 votes for Triplicity and Term. However, Mars rules the Sun in Aries, and since the boss is in the room (as it were), the Sun in Aries is going to
vote with Mars in all things. is means Mars in uences an extra 4 votes on the Sun’s Board of Directors. Of course, Mars in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter in Gemini, so Jupiter in uences the 6 actual votes that Mars has. However, Jupiter’s in uence does not extend through Mars to the Sun.
When calculating a planet’s in uence I show two numbers: the number of actual votes, and the total number of in uenced votes.
In the 3:30 a.m. chart, the three most in uential planets were Jupiter in Gemini (21/54), Mars in Pisces (30/53), and Saturn in Capricorn (18/24).
