Re-interpreting the Moon is a lot of work, but compared to starting the
interpretation from scratch, it’s the easy choice. But it’s only an option if the sect of the chart has not changed.

The Board of Directors of any planet in a Fire, Earth, or Air sign will be substantially altered, as will the levels of planetary influence. Unless you’re considering a chart where the majority of the planets are in Water signs, it’s best to throw in the towel and start from scratch.”
If the sect of the chart has changed, you probably can’t save the chart.
Sect is a concept from Hellenistic astrology that makes a distinction between a diurnal, or day chart, where the Sun is above the horizon in houses 7 through 12, and a nocturnal, or night chart, where the Sun is below the horizon in houses 1 through 6. e reason sect is so important is that the

If you choose to save the chart, you must be willing to throw out much of your interpretation of the Moon. Since the Moon remains in the same sign, the safety checklist
language will not change, but virtually everything else will be di erent. e members of the Moon’s Board of Directors (the
planets with Essential Dignity for the position of the Moon) may change radically. Not only will you have to consider a new set of houses
rulers for a nocturnal chart.
e Sun has dignity by Triplicity in the Fire Signs in a day chart, but Jupiter
has dignity by Triplicity in a night chart. Venus has dignity by Triplicity in the Earth signs in a day chart, but the Moon has dignity by Triplicity in a night chart. Saturn has dignity by Triplicity in the Air signs in a day chart, but Mercury has dignity by Triplicity in a night chart. e only signs not a ected are the Water signs: in Ptolemy’s system of Essential Dignities, Mars is the Triplicity ruler for both day and night charts.
