If you’re an astrologer working on a natal chart for a client, the six words you never want to hear are, “I just found my birth certi cate.” No matter how certain the client was about their birth time when they set the appointment, no matter how deeply the
story of their birth is embedded in their family history, the discovery of a birth certi cate means only one thing: you have the wrong birth time and you’re going to have to make changes to your interpretation.
If you’re very lucky, it’s only a minor time adjustment. For example, the family history has the birth time as 6:15 a.m., but the recorded birth time is 6:22 a.m. When this is the case, you can usually salvage most of your work. But the most common mistake confuses a.m. and p.m. and results in a 12-hour time di erence between the charts. In these cases,
you need to be prepared to start over from scratch.
The rst thing you must do is compare the planets between the two charts.
Pay particular attention to the signs of the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus. If the sign of any of these planets is di erent in the new chart, it’s game over. You have to
your safety needs, which motivate virtually every choice you make in your life. e Moon is also your feelings,
emotions, habits, conditioning, and unconscious.
e Moon is the fastest-moving body in the chart,
traveling between 12° and 14° in a 24-hour period. A
start from scratch. It will be far too complicated the chart.
As long as no planets have changed signs, it’s possible that the chart can be saved. But you’ll have to consider three key areas to make that call:
1. Changes to the Moon
2. Changes in Sect
3. Changes to Houses and Angles
to save
The most signi cant differences will involve the Moon.
