his seems like a strange question for an astrologer to ask. Of course the birth time matters. I don’t know any astrologer who would invest the time and energy required to interpret a natal chart without having
an accurate time of birth. But therein lies the real question. What makes a birth time accurate? e degree on the Ascendant changes about every 4 minutes, creating a slightly di erent chart. But how many minutes does it take to create a signi cant di erence? at’s what we’re going to explore in the featured articles this month.
We begin with How Important Is an Accurate Birth Time? on page 14. e short answer to this question is, “It depends.” Accurate and precise timing matters a great deal if you’re working with predictive natal astrology. But if you’re simply interpreting a natal chart, there’s a lot you can do with an approximate time of birth.
e six words no professional astrologer wants to hear from a client are, “I just found my birth certi cate.” ese words mean only one thing: the birth time you’ve been using for your interpretation is wrong. I’ve been through this experience myself, although not with a client.
