I freely admit that just because something is real for me, doesn’t mean it’s real for other people. Also, if I consider one horary question a year, it’s been a big year for horary astrology.
at being said, when I was studying horary astrology with one of today’s horary experts, Dr.
J. Lee Lehman, Ph.D., she often remarked that in her experience, the answer to most horary questions is “No.”
Even so, I nd horary astrology fascinating. It’s one of the more di cult branches of astrology to master, because unlike natal astrology, you do need to memorize a lot of di erent contextual meanings of the planets and signs. On the other hand, it’s amazing the amount of speci c, accurate detail an experienced astrologer can extract from a horary chart—even when the overall answer to the question is “No.”
Horary Question Example:

Online Natal Astrology Class. She had found a house that she fell in love with; however, it was at the very top of her price range, and she wasn’t sure she would be able to get approved for the loan for the house. She wanted to know where to see this in her natal chart, and to identify the planets she needed to make nice with to make this happen.
I explained that this was a horary question and couldn't be answered by looking at the natal chart. Since she knew the time and date that she had rst asked the question, I agreed to take a look at the chart — although I did point out that I’m hardly an expert at horary astrology, and it’s not a service that I generally o er.
She graciously agreed to let me share my interpretation here. (See chart on page 66.)
Considerations
Before you can begin to interpret a horary chart, you rst have to see if you can interpret it. ere are a number of “strictures against judgment”—red ags that warn the astrologer that it’s not a good idea to answer this particular question for any number of reasons.
e Solar Fire horary chart page lists several considerations right up front. First, the Ascendant is in the Via Combusta, the area between 15 Libra and
15 Scorpio that is traditionally considered to be very debilitating. is would re ect negatively on the state of the querent (the person asking the question). Second,
