Relationship Checklist Languages
Safety and validation are universal human needs. Everyone needs to feel safe and validated in his or her relationships. However, safety and validation are not universal concepts. We assume that what makes us feel
safe and validated must make everyone feel safe and validated, and we couldn’t be more wrong.
We each speak a particular language to meet our needs. Often we speak one language for our Safety Needs and another language for our Validation Needs. And our partners in relationship may not speak either language. is is the source of communication problems in relationships. We speak our languages for safety and validation, and our partners listen in theirs, and because of the lack of communication, we fail to meet each other’s Safety and Validation Needs.
