Next, I consider the Lord of the Year based on annual profections. is is a system of predictive astrology
that dates back to ancient Greece, and it’s an example of a chronocrator, a Greek term that literally translates to time lord. Time lords are planets in the natal chart that are activated as rulers for a speci c period of time.
In the system of annual profections, the sign on the ascendant advances every year on your solar return. e planet that rules the sign of your profected ascendant is the Lord of the Year, and anything involving that planet will be more signi cant during its reign. e Lord of the Year is activated by one trigger. And if the Lord of the Year is also involved in an active primary direction, that’s
two “hits” that will be active for an extended period of time. Any other trigger to that planet ful lls the Rule of ree.
e Lord of the Year helps to focus the interpretation of a solar return, and I pay particular attention to the condition of the Lord of the Year in the solar return chart, and to the houses it rules in the return chart.
Finally, I consider the slower planetary transits, from Saturn through Pluto, and see if any of these transits trigger the Lord of the Year or activate the potential of a primary direction. Because of the annual retrograde cycles,

these planets will trigger the same areas of the chart three times during the year. is is especially signi cant if an activated planet will receive multiple transit triggers.
e biggest challenge is visualizing the multiple triggers to identify periods of time when the Rule of ree is active. At the moment, I rely on the time map feature in Solar Fire. It allows you to create a visual representation
of the active triggers from any
