In the summer of 2014, I made a life- changing choice. I decided that I would teach a class on predictive astrology in e
Real Astrology Academy.
I struggled with the choice because I had never
considered myself to be a predictive astrologer.
Oh, I’ve studied predictive tools, and I consider
transits, progressions, and cycles when preparing
for a consultation with a client, but I never go
so far as to predict the future or tell my clients
what’s going to happen to them. O cially, I
don’t make predictions for my clients because my counseling practice is devoted to spiritual guidance and personal growth.
Uno cially, I don’t make predictions for my clients because I’m not good at seeing into the future and I hate being wrong.
But predictive astrology is a big part of the practice and profession of astrology, so I resolved to create the class.
I approached the class with clear and speci c expectations. I expected that I could apply the same critical thinking and objective analysis that I had applied to natal astrology to predictive astrology, and that this would result in a practical, objective approach to predictive astrology. I expected to nd objective rules of predictive astrology, and to identify speci c skills that could be practiced and mastered. And I expected that I knew what predictive astrology was, and what it could do.
About halfway through teaching the class, I realized that these expectations were unreasonable and unfounded, and the whole class started to fall apart. I felt like the captain of the Titanic. I had spotted the iceberg and knew what was coming, but it was too late to change course. I would have to wait to sift through the wreckage and identify my mistakes.
I made a lot of mistakes.
My rst mistake was assuming that every question could be answered by considering the natal chart.
My next mistake was assuming that the best way to answer questions involving the natal chart was to consider transits.
But my biggest mistake was assuming that predictive astrology illustrates cause and e ect.
Of course, I also learned from these mistakes. Once I sorted through the wreckage of the maiden
voyage of the Online Predictive Astrology Class, I discovered the rudiments of a Quantum eory
of Practical Predictive Astrology. But let’s start with the mistakes.
