qualities apply to everyone with the Moon in Gemini, but they also establish a context and de ne the parameters of behaviors and motivations. Now,
we’re ready to move to Step 2 and consider how this relates speci cally to Barbara Walters.
Step 2: Mix in the houses ruled by the planet, one at a time.
In the language of astrology, the houses are prepositions and prepositional phrases that de ne the relationship between a planet and speci c areas of life. A
If the Sun rules the 2nd house, your money is your authentic “Big S” Self. Money is your health, vitality,
and life force.
If the Moon rules the 2nd house,
money is safety; the balance in your Safety Need Account is directly related to the balance in your checking account.
planet can occupy a house or rule a house, and these describe two entirely di erent relationships.
When a planet occupies a house, that’s where the planet expresses. It operates in the a airs of that house. We’ll explore this later.
“If Mercury rules the 2nd house, money is communication, information, and understanding. Money is how you narrate reality and tell your story.”
But when a planet rules the sign on the cusp of a house, the planet rules that house. Rulership in astrology is quite literal. e ruler of a sign or a house is in charge of everything associated with that sign or house. When creating the blueprint sentences that facilitate translating between astrology and English, a planet that rules a house expresses with the a airs of that house. But this is where English grammar fails us, and quite a lot gets lost in that translation.
Saying that a planet expresses with the a airs of a house it rules doesn’t convey the depth and immediacy of rulership. If you want to incorporate houses in a synthesized interpretation, you need to take a direct, confrontational approach to house rulership.
When a planet rules a house, the planet IS the house.
I always use the 2nd house to illustrate this because the 2nd house is easy to grasp. Everyone understands money, which makes it easier to explore the broader implications of a speci c planet ruling that house.
e planet that rules the 2nd house is your money. It runs everything related to your nances. It’s your actual resources, your attitude towards money, and it describes how you earn money.
If Mercury rules the 2nd house, money is communication, information, and understanding. Money is how you narrate reality and tell your story.
If Venus rules the 2nd house, money is your values; it’s how you connect with the eternal, spiritual qualities of the Divine.
If Mars rules the 2nd house, money is your will and your desires. Money is how you take action, expend energy, and express your ego and
“little s” self in the world.
If Jupiter rules the 2nd house,
money is faith. Money is how you grow, expand, and connect with higher spiritual truths.
